Historical Timeline

1819 |
The establishment
of a spinning mill brings the industrial age to the Toss valley,
Switzerland. |

1899 |
The Rykon
Mill is converted to metalworking. The Kindlimann brothers
found a copper and tin smithy in Rikon which makes cookware. |
|
1926 |
Heinrich
Kuhn purchases the former copper and steel cookware factory. |
|
1927 |
The new electric
stoves require a new kind of cookware. Under the Duro trademark,
Heinrich Kuhn develops the first cookware that really works. |

1949 |
The DUROMATIC
pressure cooker is developed. |
1950-
1969 |
The DUROMATIC
brand becomes synonymous with pressure cookers in general.
Starting with this very successful product, Kuhn Rikon begins
to export cookware. |

1975 |
Kuhn Rikon
celebrates its 50th anniversary. |

1987 |
Kuhn Rikon
becomes the first Swiss consumer goods manufacturer to receive
the SQS quality certificate from the Swiss Association for
Quality Assurance. |

1988 |
Kuhn Rikon
expands its presence in the US market by establishing a subsidiary
based in Enfield, CT. |

1996 |
Kuhn Rikon
celebrates its 70th anniversary. |

1999 |
Kuhn Rikon Corp. moves its headquarters to the West Coast setting new records in Duromatic Pressure Cookers Sales in the USA. |

2006 |
Kuhn Rikon Switzerland celebrates its 80 anniversary and sets up a museum in its factory about the evolution of cooking. |

2008 |
Kuhn Rikon celebrating 20 years of product innovation in the US. |
